Safe Pass
The purpose of the SOLAS Safe Pass Health and Safety Awareness Training Programme is to ensure, over the course of time, that all Construction site and Local Authority personnel, will have a basic knowledge of Health and Safety, and be able to work on site without being a risk to themselves or others who might be affected by their acts or omissions.
If you have lost or damaged your SOLAS safe pass card you can apply for a replacement on the SOLAS website by filling out an Online Replacement Application.
The SOLAS Safe Pass Programme has been developed following an initiative by the Construction Industry Training Committee. This initiative was incorporated into the Construction Safety Partnership Plan which was launched by Tom Kitt T.D., Minister for Labour, Trade and Consumer Affairs. Detailed consultation took place between FAS and Expert Working Groups representing the Social Partners with the support of the Construction Industry Training Committee. The consultation focused on the content and delivery of the Safe Pass Programme and took into account the target group to whom it will be delivered.
- Raise the standard of safety awareness in the Construction Industry
- Ensure that all site personnel undergo basic health and safety awareness training with the view to making a positive contribution to the prevention of accidents and avoidance of health hazards
- Maintain a register of personnel who have received such training.
- To provide all participants with a SOLAS Safe Pass registration card which will indicate that the holder has attended a formal course in health and safety awareness.

In Company Course: €1500 per course (minimum 8, maximum 15) plus €32 per participant registration fee.
Fees include payment due to SOLAS for registration, breakfast roll, lunch and refreshments throughout the day.
- 1 Passport size photo
- Photograph proof of identification (e.g. old Safe Pass card, Drivers Licence etc)
- PPS Number (PLEASE NOTE - a candidate with no PPS number cannot complete the course)
- Face covering/mask - while not mandatory, a face covering or mask can be brought and worn if chosen
The Safe Pass programme requires the participant to undertake a written test and includes a number of written exercises during the day. Any literacy or innumeracy difficulties or non – English speakers must be brought to our attention prior to the course so as to ensure that they are adequately catered for. Those with difficultly understanding written and/or spoken English may be asked to undertake a course where a translator is used.
